Carter & Fowkes - The Wedding Pre shoot!

As the big day looms, we take the lovely Steph & Matt for a pre wedding shoot complete with tales of romance & laughter

There is a a slight breeze in the air and the sun looks golden as it dips closer to the tree line. Off to one side we hear the buzz of drone pilots and the excited barking of dogs chasing things accross the grass.

"I hope they get here soon, the light is perfect" says Tom, my partner / lighting assistant. I have to agree, we are here early and despite bemoaning the amount of hills in this park he does have a good eye for light. We both know this 'golden hour' wont last much longer so we head on down to the entrance to the park to meet the happy couple.

They arrive bang on time; nervous but chatty and we make a start. Their nerves are based on the opinion that they're awkward in front of the camera and can't pose well. Luckily, as with all my work, I prefer natural images and any posing that is needed I can help with. This type of shoot means the vast majority of the shots aren't overly posed and people rarely have to do anything more complicated than "look over there...".

It quickly became clear that Steph and Matt are no ordinary couple, they have a lovely sense of fun and love between them. Any nerves from the start quickly evaporated in the face of their laughter and before long we were moving from rocks to bridges and heading up to the play park, the site of the fabled 'first kiss'. Poor tom with all the bags and lights, valiantly keeping up with us the whole time. (He later claimed an unreasonable amount of tea by way of recompense).

We couldn't help but chuckle as the couple told us all the stories of their first date (Stephy had apparently pulled the 'help, I've dropped my earring' line to lure Matt within kissing distance) as they laugh and pull faces to creep each other out, it becomes clear that the two of them give off a certain atmosphere. Truly a lovely couple to work with.

As expected, by this point we were rapidly losing the golden light of sunset and (only slightly marred by the buzz of the drones overhead) we spent our remaining time in the light collecting some killer sunset shots / getting inventive with lighting after the sun dipped below the trees.

Naturally I was being eaten alive by the sodding bugs in the park (much to the amusement of the bride to be) and after a few creative shots here, a shilloette there and a final round of funny faces the park was shutting and it was time to head for the gates.

We had a great time working with Steph and Matt, I for one am very much looking forward to working with them on their wedding day. Thanks guys! See you in September!
