Sunshine, Sticks and Family Shoots
Spending the afternoon in Christchurch Park with the wonderful Kelly Family
It was late one afternoon last autumn when I got a message through my Facebook page, "Do you shoot families?". This particular message came from a good friend of my partner Tom, they had worked together some time ago and her husband had been kind enough to help us out with a motorbike project some time ago. The two have a lovely daughter and wanted something casual, but a little bit special. I suggested taking advantage of the bright autumn sky and the wonderful colours to be found outside at this time of year.
We met by the duck pond that their daughter had chosen to distribute today's servings of bird food (this is also where I learned that bread is actually really bad for ducks! much better to obtain some actual food from the stand nearby). After taking a few shots she kindly agreed to move on and play with the leaves, it didn't take long to find an appropriate stick that would serve as a wand and help to freeze Mummy and Daddy for the camera.
There are worse ways to spend the day than wandering around the park working with this lovely family to create images they can be proud of. We paused at the play park, various tress and things that caught our attention and called it a day when young Izzy had decided enough was enough, one more round with the ducks and we were home and dry.
A big thank you to Tino and family for getting me involved with this smashing photoshoot, I'm glad to see them enjoying their images and look forward to working together again in future!
